Should I cosplay in a group or alone? | Discussion

Hey, guys! It's Julia!

Today, I will be discussing the topic of group cosplay and solo cosplay. I have done both at least once and watched several videos on the subject.

Sometimes, people wonder if they will get lonely cosplaying alone. Not necessarily. When I cosplay, I've always brought a friend to at least watch me. You can always make new friends at the convention! (Just be safe.) Cosplay can be a good conversation starter. However, if you go alone, you can be lonely. Although, this will apply to any event whether you're cosplaying or not.

But, solo cosplay can lead to easier planning. You wouldn't have to save spending money for all of your friends. (If needed, this is sometimes a problem.) Or cosplay in a group with people who don't know anything about the characters. For example, I really like the Voltron: Legendary Defender series, but my friend knows nothing about it. I almost made her wear a cosplay of somene she has never heard of. (To go with my Allura costume.)

Cosplay with a group is my favorite thing to do. You can act out funny scenes on the way down, and even in the hotel room or the convention! However, like everything that ever existed, there are some negatives to this. Or should I say, CONS? Get it? No okay, moving on. Cosplaying as a group can lead to disagreements on which panel to go to. Or even small things like, who should cosplay who. My friend and I share the same favorite character. We had a small debate over who should cosplay them.

Cosplaying in a group is super fun, especially if you make all of their costumes. (Though tireing, it may be... oh dear...) It's all worth is to see the smiles on their faces when they try the costume on for the first time.

I could go on and on, but I'll save that for comment discussion.

Thanks for reading!
-Julia
