Should I Cosplay in a group or alone? | Discussion

Should I cosplay in a group or alone? | Discussion Hey, guys! It's Julia! Today, I will be discussing the topic of group cosplay and solo cosplay. I have done both at least once and watched several videos on the subject. Sometimes, people wonder if they will get lonely cosplaying alone. Not necessarily. When I cosplay, I've always brought a friend to at least watch me. You can always make new friends at the convention! (Just be safe.) Cosplay can be a good conversation starter. However, if you go alone, you can be lonely. Although, this will apply to any event whether you're cosplaying or not. But, solo cosplay can lead to easier planning. You wouldn't have to save spending money for all of your friends. (If needed, this is sometimes a problem.) Or cosplay in a group with people who don't know anything about the characters. For example, I really like the Voltron: Legendary Defender series, but my friend knows nothing about it. I almost made her wear a c...

How to refurbish cheap synthetic wigs! | Tutorial

How to refurbish cheap synthetic wigs! | Tutorial Hey guys! It's Julia! Today, I will be doing my first tutorial! I will be showing you how to refurbish cheap synthetic wigs. This is in no way a professional tutorial, and it all depends on how bad of shape it is. (Cut hair, tangles, or bad treatment/washing.) As all of you know, wigs get very tangled. This is what my wig looked like. (I don't have actual pictures.) GARBAGE Ok, all jokes aside, the wig looked disgusting. I was 90% sure that it was unfixable. But, I was able to make it look like this! Now, the tips of the back DO NOT feel as good as they look. So just be aware, this is NOT for softening a wig! Also, do not use this for quality wigs, I don't want to make you loose you expensive wig. ;-; Step 1. Fill your sink or bucket with water. THIS STEP IS NOT REQUIRED FOR FABRIC SOFTENER, FILL THE CONTAINER WITH FABRIC SOFTENER INSTEAD.) Fill your sink/container with enough water to drown yo...

Cosplay Contest Thoughts | Discussion

Cosplay Contest Thoughts | Discussion Hey guys! It's Julia! Today I wanted to share my thoughts on Cosplay Contests! This will be mostly, if not all, positive. I love cosplay and entering contests, so let's begin! At a local Mini Day-Con, I have entered the cosplay contest two years in a row. The first year as Link, from the video game series, The Legend of Zelda. The second year, (last year) I entered as Rose Quartz from the cartoon, Steven Universe. I have a lot of fun every single time I enter, and they get better every year! One of my favorite reasons to enter, is because I can talk to new people. I remember the first year, I talked to this nice lady in a beautiful cosplay. (I don't remember who she said she was.) We talked about ordering/making cosplays and I turned her hand a light shade blue with my badly colored sword. (It was permanent marker, Haha.) She then told me, "Never color wigs with permanent markers because it will look like someone stabb...

Update | Envy Cosplay: Fullmetal Alchemist

Update for Envy Cosplay: Fullmetal Alchemist Hello Everyone! It's Julia! Today I wanted to update you on the Envy Cosplay I am working on.  I have the shorts/skirt piece sewn, I just have to cut it and even it out. The top is sewn and I just have to cut it to what I want it to be. This Envy costume is going to be worn on Halloween. (With my Edward Elric costume and JC's Roy Mustang costume.) It will also be worn at the day convention I am attending. We will enter the cosplay contest with the costumes and hopefully win a prize! Even if we don't cosplay contests are always memorable and fun! I highly recommend you guys enter one if you cosplay. The last time I was in a cosplay contest, I was Rose Quartz from Steven Universe.  JC was Fritz Smith from Five Nights At Freddy's. I remember having lots of fun and I even impressed the judges!  I am in no way a professional cosplayer, so this amazed me. Thank you for reading! Keep Cosplaying...
